Biography

As a designer, I am proficient in Adobe's Creative Suite and have advanced experience using Illustrator, InDesign, AfterEffects, Premiere, and Acrobat. I hold strong knowledge in Typographic history, practices, principles and its effective utilization. I especially enjoy the challenge of font-pairing and font-modification. With a degree in both Art History and Graphic Design my client-work is enhanced by a strong knowledge of historical movements as they pertain to fine art and graphic design.

A substantial part of my experience as a freelance designer involves Identity and Systems Design. I often look to the work of historically innovative designers like Saul Bass, Herbert Bayer, Paula Scher and Paul Renner for inspiration and guidance. My end-goal, in developing a brand's identity, is its uniformity with the client's goal and mission, it's cohesion across multiple platforms, how effective it is to recognize, and the level of simplicity it hold throughout reproduction. Successful identity development is redacted of redundancy and void of unnecessary and overwhelming detail. Such development should be clean, concise, and memorable.

In studying Art History and Art Theory for four years, I am a highly proficient copywriter and content writer. I am fascinated with the work of Ferdinand de Saussure and Roland Barthes and their inquisition of semiotics and linguistics. Concepts given to the modern world from theorists like Julia Kristeva and her quest into the belly of abjection and Clement Greenburg's dualistic quest to oppose the redundant and campy concept of Kitsch with the idealistic concept of the AvantGarde are strong inspirations. Writing, like design, is an art form. To be successful, it too must be clean, concise, and memorable.

My work experience spans multiple platforms: digital, web, print, tactile, and conceptual. I have created an exceptional quantity of both 2D and 3D infographics. In working for NOAA in Boulder, I made various infographics from complicated and scientific data. In order for these efforts to be successful, I had to first breakdown this data for myself before I could convey it visually and simply to a laymen's audience. While it was the most challenging, this work proved to be the most rewarding.

As a designer, I look forward to professional challenges. It is with perseverance through such challenges that the greatest lessons are learned and the most impactful experiences are obtained.

Experience = Knowledge. I wish to learn and grow throughout my lifetime. Therefore, I am willing to diligently walk through any obstacle in order to obtain personal growth and development.
